Member Database - Hosted Version Only

Overview

Allow your users to easily password-protect a user name of their choice with our Integrated Member Database Application. No programming knowledge or software installation is required to use the database application. Simply copy a few lines of HTML that we provide for you, and paste them into the HTML source code of any web page. This feature is included with your license fee at no extra cost!

The integrated database is hosted by us so that your users can register their user names to work with your chat room(s) without any type of complex or time-consuming database integration. As the administrator of your chat room, you have complete access to the information supplied by your users using the standard web-based administration tool. The Integrated Member Database Application works instantly when your service is initiated - there is no activation, or fee, required to use this feature with your chat service.

How It Works

Place the registration link that we provide on to any web page. When a user clicks the link, they complete a short registration form which requests a member name, real name and email address. A validation email is issued to the user to ensure that the request is legitimate. Once the user clicks the validation link within the email, a password is issued to complete the registration.

Step 1. Log into your web-based administration page, and click the "Edit My Group" link.

Step 2. Scroll down to the "Manage Users in Database" section of your Group Settings page.

Step 3. Click the "View/Suspend/Delete" button to retrieve the registration linking code to place on your web site. In the "Member Registration Linking Code" section of the page, two text areas display, each of which contains registration linking HTML code that is relevant to your Group only. Highlight and copy the code from the pop-up window, and then paste it into the HTML source code of any web page on your site.

Add your own branding image to your registration page. Replace http://www.parachat.com/images/blank.gif with the URL of an image on your site.

Exact URL Of Your Chat Room

To direct your registered members back to your chat room using the "ENTER THE CHAT ROOM NOW" link on the member registration page, you must customize this field.

Text For Link

Customize this field to replace the default setting of "Register Name / Update Password" link label.

Language Selection

Select the language you would like the registration form to display.

Attention: If you make incorrect entries into these fields your linking code will not work correctly.

Step 4. Users who click the link will go to the a member registration page. Each user must input their desired member name, their real name, and their email address.

Step 5. An activation email will be sent to the email address that is supplied. Each user must click the link within the email to validate their request and activate their member name.

Step 6. Once the validation process has been completed, each user will receive a subsequent email that confirms their successful registration. The registration confirmation email contains the member name they selected, and a password that has been assigned to them. A user may change their password by using the "Log-in to change settings" option on the main registration page. Please note that the system will update changed passwords every 5 minutes.
